Under the Microscope (02 - 05 - 10)
February 05, 2010
Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back the winter weather with open hands …. Then curl them up around a fresh batch of this new white stuff ….. form it into a sphere shape ….. and then hurl it (nicely) at a friend. This is one way in which to help take away those winter blues. It seems to me as if this is going to be a LLLLLOOOONNNNNGGGGGG winter. :-)
Sometimes, on February 2nd, people are excited after the sun comes up. Old Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his house ….. sees no shadow and everyone is elated. This year; however, Phil DID see his shadow …… which means six more weeks of winter. I think one of the handlers said it best, “Hey, don’t shoot the messenger.” :-) Just shows – to – go – ya.
We are still collecting “Pennies for Patients” for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Next Friday is the day we will tally up everything and send it in. Every penny counts and goes to a terrific cause. If you are able to help ….. Thank you.

The kids’ brains are really going this week; we have started on Earth and Space Science. I really love this section. There are so many wonderful and amazing things to learn. It is great to see their imaginations spark to life. We will finish up the graphing on Monday in class. Then we have an activity to do on Tuesday. Workbook pages 135 – 140 will be assigned on Wednesday, Feb. 10th and DUE on Tuesday, Feb. 16th.
6th Grade
WB pages 103 – 108 will be DUE on Tuesday, Feb. 9th.We will do an activity on Monday and Tuesday and a chapter wrap up on Wednesday. There will not be a test over this section. That is why I am doing a wrap up. Thursday and Friday are devoted to another activity. The kids have done great with the lessons on genetics.
Next week, please have your child bring a box, no larger than 18 inch X 18 inch. We will be using them starting on Thursday, so the earlier the better. Thanks.
