Saturday, February 13th found twelve Northern Valley students waking up early and leaving for the Norton Forensic meet. Even though the hour was not extremely early …… most of the students did not arrive home until very late from the basketball game the night before. Those students were: Christina Anderson, Kayla Field, Bryant Tharman, Daniel Field, Tyson Callaway, Samuel Field, Zac Vincent, Alex Tharman, Ashley Constable, Jordan Herman, Gunnar Hays, and Haley Graham.
The first of three rounds began at 8:30 AM. With the rounds only seventy – five minutes long, students entered in two events really had to be on their toes. Improvised Duet Acting and Extemporaneous Speaking are the only two events that have specified times for a performance. The other events are on a first come – first serve basis.
Those students making it to the finals and their placings were: Tyson – Prose (6th place), Alex – Humorous Solo (5th), Jordan – Humorous Solo (4th), Zac – Oration (3rd), Kayla and Christina – Duet Acting (2nd), and Gunnar – Extemporaneous Speaking (1st).
Every performance, from every entry, goes towards the team points during the entire meet. At the end of the meet, the top three schools were awarded plaques. Northern Valley finished with a strong 3rd place and a plaque that everyone was ecstatic over. WAY TO GO TEAM!!!!
Our next meet will be February 27th in Hays. Remember …. If you think your life has drama, then you know what we are talking about. :-)
