NV JH VB 10.10.24
NV Vs. Weskan:
Huskies Traveled to Brewster to Play Weskan and the Logan/Palco Trojans.
Brewster is our current meet in the middle place for our JH VB/FB Games with Weskan. This year, Brewster also had a home game this same night with Logan/Palco. So on the Volleyball side, NV played Weskan first and Brewster played Logan/Palco. Winners then played the winners and losers played the losers. Weskan beat the Huskies as it took us an entire game to warm up and get into the playing mindset. The Huskies had a great night of passing against the Coyotes they just didn't play as much 3 touch-controlled volleyball. NV B team also got a chance to play Weskan and they also fell short. We had a good night of serving Weskan did a much better job of covering the entire court and moving with the ball.
NV A team Lost: 10-25, 5-25
NV B team Lost: 12-25, 12-25
Stats:
Aces- Cambrie Sproul 1, Inez Schemper 1
Perfect passes- Annika McKinney 6, Kaylee Miller 5, Ryelyn Cox 1, Inez 1
Kills- Annika McKinney 2, Inez Schemper 1
Assists- Cambrie Sproul 1
NV Vs. Logan/Palco
After NV Lost to Weskan we got a chance to avenge the loss at home against the Logan Palco Trojans, and that we did! After dropping the first set, our JH Huskies dug deep, found some internal motivation and started having fun out on the court. Despite Logan/Palco's relentless attack from the service line and many in system attacks at the net, the Huskies fought hard and answered with many Aces, Kills and amazing defense. The Huskies set up the ball and ran the 4-2 very well. With a couple of Northern Valley Servers finishing out the 3rd set with runs of 7 and 8 the Huskies dominated in the 3rd set. It was exciting to see us play good volleyball and feel good doing so! Way to work hard Lady Huskies!!

Hey guys!! Here is the Weekly Agenda for this week 10.7.24. Have a great week!!

NV JH VB 9/26 and 10/3
9/26 @ Rexford taking on the Golden Plains Bulldogs
A team lost 9-25, 12-25. B team 13-15, 13-15.
The Huskies put on a great fight setting up the ball 18 times and had so much more control and less missed serves than any game so far. The girls were so dedicated and had several diving saves. I was proud of their dedication to their teammates and how willing they were to go for the ball! Even though the score doesn't show all 18 controlled 3 touch scenarios the JH Huskies showed great promise. All week long they worked on serve receive and it showed!!
Stats:
Perfect Serve Receive passes: Annika McKinney 6, Kaylee Miller 3, Cambrie Sproul 2
Kills: Annika McKinney 1
Assists: Inez Schemper 1
10/3 Huskies vs. Triplains-Brewster Titans
B Team Beat the Titans 25-23, 25-14. A team played hard a just didn't finish on top. Losing to the Titans 14-25, 17-25.
B team had several servers serve more over and in than we had ever had in any game this season so far. Rowan Brener was able to put together a run of 8 serves in a row to give the Huskies a comfortable lead that filled everyone with confidence. A team still played better than they had all season but just came up short. The Huskies did a much better job putting together finishing moments in their 4-2 and helped each other fight for the ball. The second match was quite the match and had several back-and-forth battles. Despite their deadly attack at the net, a few missed serves and miscommunications just held us back from reaching 25 points first.
Stats:
Aces: Kaylee Miller 1
Perfect Passes: Kaylee Miller 6, Inez Schemper 3, Annika McKinney 3, Cambrie Sproul 1
Kills: Annika McKinney 3, Kaylee Miller 1, Inez Schemper 1
Assists: Inez Schemper 3
10/3 NV Huskies vs. Heartland Christian Crusaders
BOTH A TEAM AND B TEAM WALKED AWAY WITH A WIN!!! First win for A team and first Sweep of the season! Great job Huskies!
B team won 25-15, 25-9
A team won 25-23, 25-15
The Huskies are so darn excited to have their first win. All of the work and the pushups and the running paid off!! The girls did a great job having more confidence and going after the ball. They were very focused behind the line and several Huskies walked away with many Aces. This was reflected in their net play and their completion of amazing passes. The B team also showed amazing focus and had several serving runs. Rowan Brener does it again serving 10 in a row to help the JH Huskies B team get their 3rd win!!! Great job this week Huskies... Way to focus and fight!
Stats:
Aces: Inez Schemper 4, Annika McKinney 4, Rowan Brener 1, Ryelyn Cox 1

The Northern Valley Lady Huskies traveled to Colby on Tuesday to play the Heartland Christian Crusaders and the Weskan Coyote going 1-1 on the night. They then traveled to Ellis on Thursday to play the Ellis Railroaders and Heartland Christian Crusaders again going 1-1 on the night.
Tuesday night the Huskies start their evening out struggling to play a consistently offensive game but ended with a 2-set win over the Crusaders, 25-22 and 25-17. Next they faced the Coyote playing much better offensively but little errors added up leading to a loss 21-25 and 22-25. Coach Hansen commented, “It was nice to get a win tonight but improvements in our intensity and fundamentals will be essential as we continue in the second half of our season and work towards playoffs.”
Stand out team stats (Tuesday, both games):
Serving 100% Landry Gebhard and Tatum Lentz
Kills – Tatum Lentz and Delaney sides both with 8
Digs – Haley Hansen with 15
Thursday night did not start off the way the Huskies wanted, losing to the Railroaders in a 2-set match, 21-25, 11-25. “In the first set we just struggled with the little things and getting into an offensive game. Delaney Sides brought up back within a couple with some amazing serves, but it was just not enough to get the set win.” Coach Hansen said. The Lady Huskies ended their night facing off against the Crusaders. The Huskies took the first set 25-16 but then struggled to maintain the momentum in the 2nd set and ended with a 18-25 loss. The Huskies regrouped before the third set and won 25-14. “The Lady Huskies showed determination on the final set to get the momentum back and end their night with a win. Each week these girls improve and are determined to finish out their last few weeks strong.”

Northern Valley Huskies vs Golden Plains 9/26/24
Northern Valley Junior Huskies took on the Golden Plains Bulldogs out in Rexford, KS on September 26th. The Huskies played their best game of the season but fell to the Bulldogs in a heartbreaker in the last 20 seconds. The Huskies fell to 0-3 for contact football games on the season.
The game was back and forth after the Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-0 lead. The Huskies scored three touchdowns before the half and the game was tied at 20 apiece at the half. The Huskies led the contest with a long successful drive capped by a Cash Compton rushing touchdown and Colt Rogers successful PAT run. The Bulldogs answered with two drives ending in scores and one PAT. The Huskies then answered back with a Cash Compton rushing touchdown again and an Aaron Horacek rushing PAT. The Huskies led 34-33 with 1:09 remaining. Despite multiple very good defensive plays where the Bulldogs did not yield much of anything positive, the Bulldogs did enough to move the ball downfield. The Bulldogs managed a deep throw to their number one receiver who slipped past the Husky defense. The Bulldogs had a personal foul following the score that pushed them back 15 yards on the final kick off, but the Bulldogs managed to successfully pull off the onside kick and recover it with 8 seconds left on the clock. The Huskies went home with a 34-39 loss but played by far the best they have all season. The Huskies will take on the Triplains-Brewster Titans on October 3rd.
Coach Pugh’s Comments- “I have so many positives to take out of this game and how well the team played. We were a couple of plays from our first victory of the season, and it was heartbreaking to end the way the game did. The amount of fight and emotion that came out of Thursday evening is a positive for our team growing each week. I’m incredibly proud of the boys after this game and we are looking better each and every week.”
Stats-
Rushing- Cash Compton- 18 carries for 178 yards and 4 TDs. Colt Rogers 4 carries for 8 yards and 2 PAT rushes. Aaron Horacek 1 carry for 3 yards and 1 TD and 2 PAT rushes.
