The 8th graders are studying Early America in History Class. The students created these Chinampas based on those invented by the Aztec civilization. They are also referred to as "floating gardens”.
During the time of the Aztec, Chinampas were created by interweaving reeds with stakes beneath the lake's surface, creating underwater fences.
A buildup of soil and aquatic vegetation would be piled into these "fences" until the top layer of soil was visible on the water's surface.
The students had a great time with the project and are excited to share their creations at the Middle School Open House next week.
Husky fans!!! We have our first set of home events this week!! Thursday night at the volleyball game we will be having a "Fratboy" theme night!! We are also going to be hosting a personal care drive at all home volleyball games. We are in need of male and female deodorant and soaps. There will be a place where you can donate those items or you can find Mrs. Thalheim and she'll hook you up! GO BIG GREEN!!

The junior high girls had a great week of volleyball and basketball camp this week. Way to fight through the heat! Thanks to the mini Huskies for joining us on Friday and to Pat Hammond for the goodies all week!!
The Lady Huskies completed an intense two day camp with Lyons Volleyball (and former NV alumni) Head Coach Kortney Cunningham. Five sessions of volleyball over 16 hours, it was amazing to watch the transformation of the players. All of the girls came in with a great attitude and willingness to listen and learn. Makes me excited to see where the season takes them! GO HUSKIES!!
